Grasslands make a considerable contribution to UK food security through supplying part of the feed requirements of ruminants used for meat and milk production. Plus, they are considered to have the potential to play a key role in greenhouse gas mitigation, particularly in terms of UK and global carbon storage and further carbon sequestration and they are also important biodiversity hotspots, which are linked to significant ecosystem services. Still, there is much room for improvement in managing grasslands to enhance productivity and reduce emissions and nutrient losses from livestock grazing systems.
This webinar will look at options for employing alternative forages and breeding forage crops to achieve net zero, plus introduce a novel virtual grazing technology available for the UK.

• Introducing a virtual grazing technology that brings new options to UK grazing livestock
Dr David Lloyd, Head of Forage Breeding at Germinal Holdings
• Focusing on options for breeding forage crops to reduce emissions on the route to achieve net zero.
