With over 250 members, representing £8 billion turnover at the farmgate, AIC is the agrisupply industry’s leading trade association and voice of the agrisupply industry.

It represents five key sectors crop protection and agronomy, fertiliser, arable marketing, seed and some 90% of the UK animal feed market.

On behalf of its Members, AIC lobbies policy makers and stakeholders in UK and EU governments; delivers information and technical support; and provides trade assurance;. AIC promotes the benefits of modern commercial agriculture in the UK and supports collaboration throughout the agrifood supply chain.

AIC’s feed sector provides information and guidance on legislation and codes of practice, plus key statistics including production.

AIC is also highlighting the importance of improving the sustainability of feed production. This includes responsible sourcing of soya and palm oil and using registered feed advisers to promote efficient livestock production alongside reducing emissions on farm.

Working for industry
AIC lobbies for a science-based approach on major issues such as amending feed legislation to allow Innovation to help reduce antibiotic use in livestock production and to improve the sustainability of feed production. This includes responsible sourcing of soya and palm oil as well as promoting efficient livestock production alongside reducing emissions on farm.

There is an ever-increasing focus on environmental impact. AIC supports its Members on environmental policies affecting feed mills and feeding advice, as well as offering updates on sustainability issues. AIC is at the heart of representing industry views on current ‘hot’ topics such as insect protein and feed safety.

AIC manages the industry’s feed trade assurance schemes, which over recent years has led to a reduction in feed incidents as well as providing due diligence for the sector. The Feed Adviser Register, managed by AIC, plays an important role in managing sustainable feed advice onto livestock farms.

AIC and CIEL
AIC joined CIEL in 2017, recognising its Members could benefit from the CIEL network’s additional insight, support and research capability.

CIEL has a regular presence at AIC’s annual ‘Agribusiness’ conference.

“We’re delighted to support Agribusiness. It’s an important opportunity to meet with many key industry players beyond the immediate CIEL membership base. We gain first-hand insight into top sector challenges that CIEL can look to address through its research partnerships and projects.”
